Coastal West Sussex Mind at Pride

Coastal West Sussex Mind at Worthing Pride

Some of our volunteers at the end of the parade at the first ever Worthing Pride

Trustees, service users, volunteers and staff took part in the first ever Worthing Pride this summer. Coastal West Sussex Mind had been chosen as one of two charities, alongside Allsorts, to benefit from the proceeds of the event.

On a blisteringly hot Saturday, hundreds of people lined the prom to watch the parade pass by. There was a party atmosphere and everyone seemed to be having a great time.

When we reached Beach House Grounds, the stage entertainment had already started, with a drag act, music and comedy.

Coastal West Sussex Mind had a mental health awareness stand and many people stopping during the event to talk about mental health and pick up information. We also had a tombola at the stall which proved popular.

Communications and community fundraising manager Debbie Watkins said: "It was great to be part of the first ever Worthing Pride and to celebrate diversity in the town.

"We are very grateful to the organisers, Jeannette Compton of Tommy's Fund and Josie Kelly of Vivacious Events, for choosing Coastal West Sussex Mind as a beneficiary.
