Michelle runs for mental health

Michelle tells us why she took on two marathons one week apart as part of the heads together campaign:

Too often, people feel afraid to admit that they are struggling with their mental health. This fear of prejudice and judgement stops people from getting help and can destroy families and end lives. Heads Together, working with local Mind charity wants to help people feel much more comfortable with their everyday mental wellbeing and have the practical tools to support their friends and family.

As many of you know, I myself have suffered with my own mental well being, experiencing sometimes the darkest moments of depression to the unknown territory of anxiety and panic. However, with the help of my family and friends, my love of training and especially my son, I always found the strength to keep moving forward and carry on with my journey of a strong body and strong mind.

However not everyone is as fortunate as me to have this support network and I want to help raise much needed funds to ensure that everybody that is affected by Mental Health Problems have the support to improve their physical and mental well-being, strengthen their self-esteem and confidence, build strong relationships with their family, friends and communities, get into education, training and work and achieve their own personal and social goals.

This is the 2nd time I've ran 2 marathons in 1 week, so I know how physically and mentally enduring this challenge will be. This time though, one of the marathons is particuarly challenging as it is cross country with very steep hills, thus means my training has to be both road and cross country... (those with running experience will know this won't be easy)

Congratulations to Michelle for completing the 'London Marathon' on April 23rd 2017 and 'The Three Fort Challenge' on April 30th 2017 it is an amazing achievement and a big thank you from everyone at Coastal West Sussex Mind for choosing us as your charity to run for.

We would also like to say a big well done and thank you to Steve, Chrissie and Chris who all ran the London Marathon 2017 for us!
