We were delighted to receive a cheque for over £26,000 from Rolls Royce after their fantastic year of fundraising in aid of Coastal West Sussex Mind.
Katie Glover, chief executive of Coastal West Sussex Mind, said: "When we started our partnership with Rolls Royce in 2017 we did not fully appreciate or imagine how generous and committed staff and the organisation would be. We are in no doubt now. You have raised way beyond anything we had expected. I hope those of you who were there when we received the cheque enjoyed seeing our jaws drop to the floor!"
She added: "We are a small organisation which relies on fundraising income for many aspects of our work so this kind of amount really makes a difference. It will help us reach more local people and families who need support with their mental health."
Rolls Royce more than matched the money raised by their employees. People took part in a variety of activities including an abseil down the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth, the Chichester Half Marathon, quizzes and a popular chilli plant growing contest. They also donated money from raffles and items sold in their leather shop which were created from leftover pieces of leather for the interiors of the cars.
A highlight for us was the family day at Christmas which we took part in. It was very enjoyable and many staff gave so much and were so interested in, and engaged in, talking to us.
Katie added: "When we are involved with companies and other organisations, we hope it encourages people to feel it is both important and ok to speak openly about mental health in life and in the workplace and also to know that support is available if anyone needs it."
No one should have to face a mental health problem alone. We’re a charity and rely on your support to continue our work. Find out how you can donate and give someone hope.Donations
